The meaning of life is purpose.
Your purpose is your meaning, my purpose is my meaning...and so on. To the extent that we all have different purposes, then to that extent life has different, idiosyncratic meanings. But in the most general sense, life has the same meaning for all of us—namely our purpose.
If you were expecting the revelation of some hidden secret, or something more complicated, you should be relieved to know that it's not complicated at all. The complicated part consists of two elements:
- Figuring out what your purpose is
- Actually achieving it
It's axiomatic that, unless you manage to stumble into fulfillment of your purpose, you have to know what it is first. Some folks seem to be born knowing what their purpose is. Lucky them. Others are told by others what their purpose "should" be. It's not clear how lucky they are. Still others have to struggle to figure out what their purpose is. When you find it, you'll know.
Once you know what your purpose is, the next step is to make it happen. There might be as many as five...maybe six billion ways of doing that, so it might be a good idea to find someone who knows more about it than you do and ask for help. Or you can do it the hard way, if that's part of your purpose.
For most folks, achieving their purpose eventually involves cooperating with others. That can get very complicated. The best advice we can offer is keep your word, act with integrity, and don't do unto others as you would not have them do unto you. Oh...and lighten up. Nobody gets out of here (planet Earth) alive, so you might as well have some fun on the journey.
Anyhow, if you find yourself wondering, "WTF does it all mean?", the answer is, "Check your purpose." That's all there is to it. Once you know what it is, and you get serious about making it happen, that should keep you too busy to ask questions like, "WTF does it all mean?"...if you catch our drift.
