The only signal processing I used was some frequency equalization and peak limiting to make the "s" sounds a little more clearly audible.

In the 2x sample, the digital file is time-stretched to twice its original duration and transposed (pitch-corrected) down one octave. Otherwise, processing is identical to the 1x sample.
• V-50, 4x (7.5 ips) In the 4x sample, the digital file is time-stretched to four times its original duration and transposed (pitch-corrected) down two octaves. Otherwise, processing is identical to the 1x sample.




Here are images of the waveform envelopes for each of the samples above.
It doesn't take long to see that there is obvious distortion.
If there were zero distortion, all of the waveform envelopes would be identical.
The differences between the 1x and 4x samples are severe.
Notice where the word "Enterprise" is mutilated in the 4x sample (under the "7" marker in the timeline).
